All the time I have people tell me that they are “Open To Work”. Oftentimes, I find that not to be true. 

Today, I wanted to talk about what it really means to be “Open To Work”.

First of all, I want to clarify right away what it DOES NOT mean… It doesn’t mean that you are approaching your job search with desperation or are willing to jump at the first opportunity thrown your way. 

Being “Open To Work” means being willing to put yourself out there. It’s spending the time researching keywords, top skills, job requirements, and leads, so that you can land the job you really want. It means being willing to get very specific on your end goal, but being willing to do what you need to do in order to get there. 

Sometimes, especially if you are making a career pivot, you need to be willing to enter in at a lower level and then put in the time and effort to make the climb to where you want to be. 

Most importantly, If you’re looking for a job, you can let recruiters and your network on LinkedIn know you’re open to new job opportunities. Make sure you highlight your top skills as well as your location on your Linkedin Profile. Doing this will help your profile show up in search results when recruiters look for suitable job candidates.

Remember, people are STILL HIRING! Make sure you’re keeping yourself at the top top of the candidates list.
